Experience
Geoff has over 35 years experience as a tax adviser. In 2001, Geoff set up and led the expatriate tax practice in Adelaide for a Big 4 accounting firm, before joining Grant Thornton in 2007.
Geoff has detailed understanding of the needs of clients in relation to international (and domestic) transfers of staff, recruiting from overseas (or interstate). There is both an employer and employee dimension to consider.
Employer impacts include the significant time, effort and costs involved; selection success or ‘strike rate’; structuring effective remuneration; and impact on employees (a key asset). Geoff has himself worked outside of Aust (for three years) and so has a unique awareness of not only employer costs and tax issues, but also the important ‘people’ dimension eg career, social, cultural, and family impacts. How the employer and employee identify, address, and resolve the above matters affects the overall experience, efficiency, and ‘cost’ (financial and otherwise) of the relocation.
