Experience

Dan commenced his career in 1983. Over the course of his career he has worked in an audit role for a London Chartered Accounting firm and commercially in a London merchant bank. Dan returned to an audit career in Australia and accepted a position at Grant Thornton in 1993. He has been a director of the Brisbane practice since 2000.

If an audit is being conducted on your organisation, it’s good to know that the person in charge has the breadth of experience to be able to identify all the relevant issues. Dan’s experience both in Australia and overseas is invaluable in a complicated audit situation.

Dan has managed the audit of many clients whose turnover has ranged from five to 500 million dollars. His experience includes audit and assurance work in industries such as:

• retail

• Graduate Diploma in Applied Finance and Investment
• Bachelor of Business (Accountancy)

Professional affiliations and memberships

For many years Dan sat on the Membership Services Committee of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in Brisbane. Dan is also a fellow of the Financial Services Institute of Australasia and member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants

Presentations and publications

Dan has acted as a “workshop leader” for the Institute of Chartered Accountants CA Program. Dan has also presented many technical papers to both the Institute and the Australian Society of Accountants on changes to Corporations Law and accounting standards, particularly IFRS and also audit standard updates.
