Experience

With our increasing complex taxation system, the challenge for tax practitioners is to understand all of the reforms & sensibly relate them to clients. Peter Godber has over 25 years experience in providing professional taxation advice and dealing with changes to our tax laws.

Peter provides advice in many areas of taxation. He can provide expert guidance on business taxation, business and investment structuring, capital gains tax, international tax planning, transfer pricing, salary packaging and executive issues, fringe benefits tax, prudential tax audits and requests for rulings.

Peter has worked for large accounting and legal firms, but always in tax advisory specialist areas.

Sector experience

Peter has worked with clients from industries such as property development and construction, transport, coal and energy, legal and medical professions, import and distribution, information technology and the public sector.

• Chartered Accountant
• Masters of Law (LLM)
• Bachelor of Commerce/LLB

Professional affiliations and memberships

• Peter is currently a member of Grant Thornton’s Global Tax Advisory Committee that sets direction for its tax practices.
• He is a State Councillor of the Queensland branch of the Taxation Institute of Australia and he chairs the State branch’s technical committee that reviews new laws and technical developments.
• Peter is a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants, the Institute of Company Directors, and the Law Society of New South Wales.
