Experience

Jim is a very experienced and highly regarded indirect taxation specialist.

He commenced his career with the ATO where he attained the position of Senior Assistant Commissioner of Taxation in the ATO’s Appeals Section.

Prior to joining Grant Thornton, Jim has held partner positions with KPMG, Minter Ellison and Baker McKenzie and has also run his own transaction tax legal firm, TT Legal.

Jim works with large corporate clients on all aspects of indirect taxation, in particular GST and stamp duty.

In addition to his client work, Jim sits on the ATO’s Indirect Tax Public Rulings Panel where he provides input on key ATO indirect tax rulings and, as a Senior Fellow, he tutors postgraduate law students in GST subjects at the University of Melbourne.
