The Clean Energy Legislation and what it means for you

On 28 July 2011, the Government released its exposure draft Clean Energy Legislation Package, which will establish the Carbon Pricing Mechanism (CPM) for Australia.

This draft legislation codified the Government’s 10 July 2011 announcement on Australia’s Clean Energy Future and is expected to be introduced into Parliament in final form during September 2011.

It is currently open for consultation and comment by the public until 22 August 2011.

Grant Thornton will be preparing a submission on the legislation based on feedback from our clients.

In the meantime, this section contains some details on the CPM and associated provisions.

Please feel free to contact Grant Thornton’s climate change team or your usual Grant Thornton advisor if you require further details or have any questions.
