The property industry is celebrating the appointment of South Australian, Jamie Briggs as our first Minister for Cities and the Built Environment.

This key economic appointment marks a change of direction in urban policy with new Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull at the helm. The long awaited minister’s role will be focused on ensuring the development of our cities is both productive and sustainable. Australia has the second-fastest rate of population growth in the OECD and, according to Infrastructure Australia, three-quarters of this future growth is set to occur in our four largest cities.

The appointment is complimented by having Scott Morrison in the role of Treasurer, with Mr Morrison’s background including a stint at the Property Council of Australia as Head of Research in a former life.
