• $68 million in new government funding to support Victorian manufacturers

In recognition of the structural adjustment Victoria is facing with the closure of automotive manufacturing operations, the Victorian and Commonwealth governments have announced three programs designed to create new manufacturing jobs.

  • the Victorian Government’s $33 million Local Industry Fund for Transition (LIFT) Program
  • the Victorian Government's $5 million Future Industries Manufacturing Program and
  • the Commonwealth Government’s $30 million Next Generation Manufacturing Investment Program

$30 million Next Generation Manufacturing Investment Program - Round 2

A new round of funding is now open under the Next Generation Manufacturing Investment Program to encourage manufacturing investment in South Australia and Victoria.

Funding is available on a competitive basis for up to one-third of eligible costs, for projects which have at least $1.5 million in eligible expenditure. The grants range from $500,000 to $2.5 million.

Applications close 18 April 2016.

$33 million Local Industry Fund for Transition (LIFT) Program

The new LIFT Program supports job-creating projects in Melbourne’s North, West, South-East and Geelong local government areas impacted by automotive manufacturing closures.

Funding is available on a competitive basis for up to 25 per cent of eligible costs, for projects which have at least $200,000 in eligible expenditure. The grants range from $50,000 to $2 million.

Applications are open on a continual basis.

$5 million Future Industries Manufacturing Program

The new Future Industries Manufacturing Program supports investments in new manufacturing technologies.

Funding is available on a competitive basis for up to 25 per cent of eligible costs, for projects which have at least $100,000 in eligible expenditure. The grants range from $25,000 to $500,000.

Applications are open on a continual basis.
