Robert is a member of Grant Thornton International’s Global Leadership Team. He is responsible for global member firm development; the Asia Pacific region; the development of the global firm’s technology and other enabling platforms; and the finance function. Grant Thornton globally has revenues of US$4.6bn and 42,000 people and operates in over 130 countries.
He was Grant Thornton Australia's CEO between 2008 and 2015, and led the firm from being a federation of individually owned practices through a number of sizeable mergers and acquisitions, to be the leading national firm it is today. Under his leadership, the firm grew to have more than 1,300 people engaged around the country helping our clients unlock their potential for growth.
Robert has had over 30 years’ experience in Chartered Accounting, primarily advising private and public entities in the areas of professional services, property, technology, automotive, and communications. As an advisor, he applied a “whole of business” approach to growing the firm’s clients and people. He recognised that his clients needed the support of a strategic advisor who could bring together the firm’s audit, tax and advisory capabilities as well as the necessary business judgement that came with the experience of dealing with a broad range of client and business challenges.
He was previously a member of Grant Thornton International Limited’s Board of Governors, Strategy Committee, and Chair of the Member Firms Matters Committee; and member of Grant Thornton Australia Limited’s Board and headed the National Leadership Team which was responsible for the strategic direction and performance of Grant Thornton Australia.
