Grant Thornton announces new offering to help retailers navigate complex financial servi.....

Leading advisory firm Grant Thornton Australia welcomes Dhun Karai and Stuart Haughey to lead an industry first, payments advisory service supporting retail clients.

The firm’s new payments advisory service will assist retailers in dealing with disruption currently occurring in the payments industry. The service not only assesses ways to reduce costs, but also provides strategic advice to retailers on how they interact with customers at the point of payment for a transaction.

CEO of Grant Thornton Australia, Greg Keith said, “navigating new payment methodologies will be key for retailers tackling disruption and managing costs. The reduction in ATM usage and continuous evolution of contactless payment options will drive behavioural changes for consumer payment preferences, and we’re providing strategic advice to help retailers find opportunities within the disruption.”

“In an increasingly competitive environment, Dhun and Stuart will bring significant retail expertise for the benefit of our clients,” said Mr Keith.

Dhun and Stuart bring a depth of financial services and retail experience to deliver a distinctive offering, seeking to optimise and streamline payments arrangements that clients hold with their financial services providers.

“For retailers, payments processing sits at around the third highest cost on the P&L. Our goal is to streamline and optimise our clients’ existing arrangements in order to significantly reduce those costs, and to help them strike new partnerships and alliances to compete successfully,” said Ms Karai.

“The retail payments space is a complex environment to navigate, particularly as fintech and non-traditional entrants present a myriad of alternative customer and technology solutions and channels,” said Ms Karai.

“It’s an exciting time to join Grant Thornton; we share a genuine passion to support businesses in their growth ambitions.” said Ms Karai.
