The acquisition provides an enhanced digital advisory offering tailored to the needs of mid-size businesses and is expected to complete on 1 July 2015. It includes the transfer of all of the existing team from the Consult Point Group businesses; comprised of 30 people in Sydney, Melbourne and Adelaide.

Robert Quant, CEO, Grant Thornton Australia, sees the merger as integral to enhancing its service offering as the growth adviser for mid-size businesses.

“We’ve made the decision to commit to the dynamic mid-market and to offer our clients the range of services they need to support their sustainable growth. Having listened to our clients, we know that this acquisition responds to their need to determine the right digital approach to overcome impacts of economic changes on their business.

“Every business is digital in some way and if they don’t see that, they will struggle to grow in today's environment. In order for us to provide holistic growth services to our clients, we need to be able to assist them in every aspect of the business strategy and operations, including digital. We know that for many mid-size businesses, digital disruption is now the ever-present issue when evaluating opportunities to grow.

“Joining with the Consult Point Group team, with whom we already have a strong relationship, is an attractive move for us as they are wholly focussed on the type of clients that Grant Thornton works with every day; boasting great people who have a proven ability to have the right discussions and deliver the best solutions; and a team with real innovative, commercial approach to the digital world.

“Together, we will maximise value for our mid-size clients by helping them identify and fulfil their own digital needs, assess emerging technologies and optimise their investment to improve customer experience, people engagement and performance.  We will do this without the cost burden of solutions fit for larger institutions,” said Mr Quant.
