The International Accounting Bulletin named Grant Thornton 'Network of the Year' at an award ceremony held last night, 14 March, at the ICAEW building in London.

Ed Nusbaum, global CEO, said of the award win, "Having achieved a double-digit growth rate, led the six largest accounting organisations in annual growth and embarked on a new global advertising campaign – our ambition is clear and the results speak for themselves."

"I am proud of this award and delighted that our strategy is earning us international recognition. I am determined that 2013 will be just as successful as 2012, as we drive towards achieving Ambition 2015."

With last year’s merger in Sydney and Victoria making Grant Thornton Australia the fourth largest office in the Grant Thornton International network, CEO Robert Quant was particularly pleased to have the network’s growth strategy celebrated at such a high level.

“Both locally and internationally, this is not just about becoming bigger. We are creating something that is genuinely new and different: a firm that is focused on a type of client, not necessarily the size of clients; that has a structure that enables agility in decision-making and client service; teams of people who have a broad perspective, and a commercial instinct for growth.

“We are part of a leading global network that is prepared to invest in our development and further growth. No other firm can offer this combination to its clients and people,” Quant said.

Judged by an independent panel which included Sir David Tweedie, Sue Almond of ACCA and Jane Howard of Wragge & Co, firms had to demonstrate strength across a number of key areas which included; evidence of top-level network-wide audit quality, a strengthened position in strategically important markets and strong industry leadership.

The 'Network of the Year' category saw Grant Thornton shortlisted against BDO and Nexia International.
