Grant Thornton welcomes new Partner and retail industry expert, Matt Darby

Grant Thornton Australia is thrilled to announce the appointment of Matt Darby as the latest Partner to bolster its growing Retail Management Consulting team.

Matt joins Grant Thornton from KPMG, where he was the National Lead for the retail sector.

“I’m extremely excited to become a part of Grant Thornton and link up with such a talented group of retail experts,” said Matt Darby.

“The retail sector has faced significant challenges throughout the pandemic, and this has brought forward major change within the industry. The retailers who rebound best will be those who can harness new technologies and the data at their fingertips – that’s where Grant Thornton’s retail consulting offering fits.

“Grant Thornton has more than 130 offices across the globe, providing access to a wealth of knowledge for our clients. I look forward to leveraging our expertise both in Australia and overseas, and applying these learnings to the Australian market,” continued Matt Darby.

Grant Thornton’s retail practice continues to grow significantly and the acquisition of Matt Darby brings a unique set of skills for its retail clients to utilise.

Jamie Downs, Partner & National Head of Management Consulting at Grant Thornton, said: “At Grant Thornton, retail is in our DNA, we are retailers first and consultants second, and Matt epitomises our philosophy.

“Throughout his career he has worked within every segment of the retail sector and the supply chain. During this time, Matt has worked with Consumer & Retail industry clients across the UK, Europe, North America and the APAC region.

“Matt is renowned for his expertise in improving capabilities for retailers across the complete value chain. He delivers tech enabled transformation programs working alongside his clients to enable the new digital and data capabilities their customers require. We know these skills are fundamental for the future of retail, which is why we are so excited by Matt’s addition to our retail business,” continued Jamie Downs.

Prior to joining KPMG, Matt was the Retail & Products Industry Lead at Publicis Sapient, following more than 20 years at Accenture where he was their Retail Industry Lead for ANZ.
