Grant Thornton wins Bronze Employer Status in the Australian Workplace Equality Index

Grant Thornton has been awarded Bronze Employer Status by Pride in Diversity for the second time, in their Australian Workplace Equality Index (AWEI) on 28 May 2021.

This is the second time Grant Thornton has been awarded the Bronze Employer Status at the AWEI Awards, the definitive national benchmark on LGBTI+ workplace inclusion.

The AWEI index thresholds continue to increase and become more competitive across the top employers. We’re proud to have attained the Bronze Employer Status, and continue to invest in ways to improve LGBTI+ inclusion and foster an inclusive and diverse culture.

It has become clear during the height of the COVID pandemic in 2020 that an inclusive culture must go beyond the four walls of the office. In response to extended working from home practices, we have created a Domestic & Family Violence Policy which is supportive of all team members and their families and addresses how we can support our people around issues like unsafe living arrangements and financial abuse.

While our LGBTI+ & Allies network PRISM has been unable to host face to face events until recently, the consistent communication and strides they have made during this time has been nothing short of phenomenal.

“I’m so proud of our PRISM network for continuing to push and support our LGBTI+ community during such a hard time in many people’s lives. Led by our people, the network “manages up” to the executive and their input and contribution is invaluable to shape the policies and decisions we make as a firm,” Greg Keith, CEO Grant Thornton Australia, said.

“The index is the preeminent benchmark to understand how we’re tracking with LGBTI+ inclusion. Every year companies improve. It’s competitive and we learn so much from our peers in how to create and sustain an inclusive and diverse culture,” Greg Keith finished.
