Congratulations to WIRV’s Young Gun, Stephanie Elder

Congratulations to Stephanie Elder, a Manager in Grant Thornton’s Restructuring Advisory team in Melbourne, who has been recognised as a future leader by Women in Insolvency and Restructuring Victoria (WIRV).

The Young Gun Award recognises an outstanding young female professional in the insolvency and restructuring industry who has demonstrated an exemplary commitment to success in her career. The category is open the women with up to 5 years’ experiences across all areas of insolvency and restructuring who are primarily based in Victoria.

Stephanie took out the category in early August. The recognition is well deserved as her skills and qualities of a future leader have seen her rapidly progress in her career.

“Being a successful insolvency and restructuring practitioner in the modern day requires a broad range of skillsets encompassing technical excellence, practical experience, and importantly empathy, of which Stephanie is already well ahead of her time,” said Tianne Nagy-Jones, Director - Restructuring, Grant Thornton.

The past year has been an incredibly challenging time for those in the insolvency and restructuring sector – and for the people and organisations they work with – but Stephanie has thrived as the lead and main operative on multiple files, while also studying and mentoring others. In that time, Stephanie worked on engagements like the high profile Greensill Australia Pty Ltd administration and liquidation, as well as passing the ARITA Advanced Certificate (Fundamentals of Restructuring, Insolvency and Turnaround) with a Distinction.

Stephanie wanted to give back to the community and especially to the country in which she grew up – Fiji. Whilst in lockdown last year, Stephanie acted a mentor for a high school student in her final year of study.

Stephanie is also a member of WIRV's Communications sub-committee and Australian Restructuring Insolvency & Turnaround Association (ARITA) VIC/TAS Young Professionals committee.
