“I built a robust understanding of regulated utilities and gained an appreciation for the internal pressures and deadlines that clients face. I feel like this has held me in good stead coming back as I can better relate to clients’ requests.”
Elliott says social media played a big part in keeping him in touch with his Grant Thornton colleagues, and was invited to networking events and social events.
“All of this made it really easy to maintain close ties with the team,” said Elliott.
So what made you come back to Grant Thornton?
“The role I was coming back to at GT was a new one really focused on growing the financial modelling practice in Melbourne. Given I had always been passionate about financial modelling, I was excited by the chance to get in early, grow the area, and return to a company that really felt like home to me.”
Elliott said that he feels his career is nurtured by the firm and his team.
“I’m empowered to take on additional responsibility on interesting and challenging engagements which supports fast paced development and progression.”
“Grant Thornton has a great culture in which everyone is extremely supportive, and your colleagues often feel like your closest friends. A lot of the people are like family to me.”
