Partner – Sustainability Reporting Advisory

David is a Chartered Accountant and sustainability specialist with more than 18 years’ experience assisting clients with financial and non-financial reporting and assurance services. His areas of expertise include sustainability reporting, non-financial assurance, greenhouse gas emissions and carbon accounting, climate risk analysis and decarbonisation, ESG strategy, roadmaps and frameworks, and health, safety and environment reviews.

David began his career as a financial statement auditor and qualified as a charted accountant in the United Kingdom, converting to specialist sustainability assurance and advisory services in 2012. Over this time, David has worked across a vast array of clients and industries to assist with their sustainability strategy, reporting and assurance needs. His recent focus has been on helping clients to prepare for Australia's first round of reporting and assurance under AASB S2 Climate-related disclosures.

While he has worked across some of the largest and most complex sustainability engagements in Australia, David has also devoted much of his career in the development and upskilling of clients that are at the beginning of their sustainability journey. David works alongside c-suite and management, finance and sustainability teams, and prides himself in bringing a pragmatic and valuable approach to his clients.

Experience

• Recent focus on the growing demand for climate-related disclosure assistance under AASB S2, performing gap assessments, reporting roadmaps and assurance readiness reviews, as well as full reporting implementation support across a range of clients.
• Pragmatic delivery of climate risk services including identification of climate-related risks and opportunities, climate scenario analysis and quantification of the financial effects of climate change.
• Sustainability and climate disclosure education – assisting clients without a dedicated sustainability function to understand their reporting obligations and upskill their boards, management and workforce.
• Sustainability Office as a Service – a wholly outsourced end-to-end sustainability reporting solution for clients.
• Development of scope 1, 2 and 3 greenhouse gas emissions inventories for a wide range of clients across varied industry sectors including the identification of decarbonisation and cost-saving opportunities.
