Grant Thornton welcomes new Audit Partner, David Haynes

Grant Thornton is pleased to welcome new audit Partner, David Haynes to its Sydney office from 2 June 2025. David brings over 27 years of Big 4 experience where he demonstrated expertise working with a diverse portfolio of clients ranging from large, complex multinational listed companies to family-owned businesses.

He has a particular interest in collaborating with medium-sized businesses, including private enterprises, listed mid-cap organisations, and fast-growth, private capital entities on their journey towards a significant capital event.

"As an experienced audit Partner, I love working with people and making a difference every day for my clients, teams and fellow Partners. The right audit Partner makes a difference by helping their clients navigate the increasingly complex level of regulation and risk, while also giving stakeholders the confidence their underlying numbers are correct. I am very excited to be joining the Grant Thornton team and have the opportunity to work with such a dynamic and agile organisation," said David Haynes, Partner – Audit and Grant Thornton.

David possesses vast experience in guiding organisations through capital transactions, including sales to private equity, IPOs, and privatisations. David's key strength lies in applying a commercial lens to the audit process, expertly guiding directors and owners through complexity and skillfully advising on what truly matters, versus what is merely a 'nice to have.'

“We’re looking forward to having David as part of our Audit and Assurance practice, his credibility and specialist capability will be an asset for both our clients and people here at Grant Thornton. David will hit the ground running in our Sydney office and will spend a large amount of time in the market over the next twelve months,” said Simon Coulton, Partner and Head of Audit & Assurance – Sydney at Grant Thornton.

Beyond his professional achievements, David is also passionate about making a difference in the broader community. He serves as a Non-Executive Director and Treasurer of Life Education Australia, an organisation that delivers health and wellbeing education programs to schools and early learning centres, focusing on empowering children and young people to make safe and healthy choices.
