Wi Liem Chua has been named as the next National Head of Management Consulting at Grant Thornton Australia after stepping into his role as National Head of Retail & Consumer Products in June 2023.

Wil’s career spans 15 years of hands-on experience starting on the retail floor and working across numerous operational roles which helps him to view client challenges as opportunities. As an expert consultant, he specialises in partnering with clients in transformation programs and implementing operating models that ensure they realise their greatest objectives for customers, people, and commercial outcomes.

Wi Liem Chua, Partner, National Head of Management Consulting & Retail & Consumer Products at Grant Thornton said: “I’m humbled to be stepping into this role, and from a leader who genuinely cares for our clients and people keeping our firm’s CARE values in mind across all decisions. I have worked closely with Jamie since starting my consulting journey, and in the past 18 months we’ve created greater synergy in my capacity as National Head of Retail & Consumer Products. Having a mentor and an expert like Jamie in our national team is a privilege and I’m excited to continue his incredible legacy.

“Our team is committed to continuous learning and engages with hands-on expertise to support clients in solving complex challenges – which is especially important in the current dynamic and changing market. I am dedicated to continuing to foster a CARE culture across our national team, driven by a strong belief in striving to exceed client expectations. We approach every engagement with integrity, critical thinking, and a deep commitment to understanding every unique challenge.”

With solid experience in leading the Retail & Consumer Products industry group since 2023, Wil’s commitment and dedication to expanding his leadership role is strongly supported by his predecessor, Jamie Downs.

Jamie Downs, Management Consulting Partner said: “It was a natural fit for Wil to become National Head of Management Consulting. His drive, dedication and inherent curiosity has seen him thrive in consulting since he made the career move a decade ago. As management consultants, we work closely with senior industry leaders – embedding ourselves in organisations to establish their ongoing success and business growth. I have no doubt Wil will continue to encourage and inspire our team to deliver strong, successful outcomes, ensuring we provide tailored solutions for our clients and setting them up for the future. For now, I will continue in my role as Partner at Grant Thornton, working alongside Wil in his expanded leadership role.”

Wil commenced as National Head of Management Consulting in July 2025 and will also remain as National Head of Retail & Consumer Products.
