Partner – Indirect Tax

Cliff provides GST advice to taxpayers across a range of different industries, with specialist expertise in the financial services industry.

Cliff has extensive experience advising on a broad range of GST matters including:

improvements to GST governance and risk management policies, processes, and controls;
developing and updating GST apportionment methodologies for financial institutions that optimise GST recovery on costs, and are compliant with ATO guidelines;
GST implications of complex business transactions, cross-border activities, M&A/IPO structuring advice, and due diligence reviews;
GST advice and compliance services for non-residents with business activities in Australia;
GST data analytics projects, creating bespoke tests that identify particular GST risks/opportunities for clients based on their specific industry and GST profile; and
negotiating successful outcomes for clients with the ATO through early engagement, private rulings, and assistance with ATO reviews and audits.
