Leona has over 16 years experience in financial services and has supported local and global organisations through a variety of risk management and assurance services. Prior to joining Grant Thornton, Leona worked at a Big 4 firm and led numerous risk and assurance engagements.

Leona’s portfolio includes ASX and global listed companies, organisations in the financial services sector, and government agencies. Known for her strategic approach to addressing business issues, Leona has extensive experience supporting Executive Leadership Teams and Audit Committees in areas of risk management, compliance and operations. 

In addition to her professional services background, Leona has also held senior roles in industry across risk, finance and operations. Her industry experience enables her to understand the challenges that organisations face and provide meaningful solutions relevant to their operating environment. Leona is a business enabler recognised for her ability to effectively manage stakeholders, simplify complexity, and translate technical knowledge into practical solutions.

Leona was the 2022 recipient of PwC’s prestigious John Feely Award, which is a significant honour recognising her for excellence in client service, strategic leadership, and contributions to the Victorian community during the COVID-19 pandemic outbreak. She has also completed Harvard Business School’s prestigious General Management Program in 2023.

Experience

• Internal audit, compliance and due diligence reviews which includes leading the delivery of internal audit programs and working closely with business stakeholders, Executive Leadership Teams and Audit Committees.
• Risk management framework design and implementation of ASX listed organisations, Public Interest Entities and ASIC/APRA regulated entities. This includes supporting the Board with risk appetite and maturity assessments, creating and implementing risk management strategies, and performing controls optimisation reviews.
• Compliance and Third-Party controls assurance engagements of investment management, superannuation, financial administration, custody, and registry services (e.g. ISAE 3402, GS 007, ASAE 3100, ASAE 3150).
• Remediation and corporate investigative services involving potential non-compliance of legislative/regulatory requirements, fraud and/or misconduct in providing financial services.
