Sandra has more than 20 years’ experience in the field of R&D Incentives and Government programs both in Australia and the region. Centred on innovation, Sandra assists company’s access the R&D tax incentive program as well as Government grants and direct funding initiatives.

Sandra believes innovation is vital to a healthy and robust economy and is an active participant in the national debate around the critical role Government plays in attracting and retaining innovation in Australia in the global environment.

Sandra’s focus is leading an innovation and IP centric group who work with clients to maximise and leverage the value of their IP created in Australia and offshore. The innovation-centric model enables Grant Thornton professionals to help clients access direct Government funding, explore and understand the value of their IP and assist with protecting their innovative ideas through IP strategies to meet their business needs.

Prior to her role at Grant Thornton, Sandra was National Leader and Director of Innovation Incentives at Glasshouse Advisory, which formed the R&D incentives program and EMDG practice of the IPH Ltd group.

In addition to her role at Grant Thornton, Sandra sits on a number of Boards which include a Governorship of the Heart Research Institute where she chairs the Commercialisation Committee, a Director of the Global Legal Identifier Foundation (GLEIF) chairing their Audit Committee and a Director of the Sisters of Charity Foundation sitting on their Audit and Risk Committee.

Sandra was a founding member of the National Reference Group a peak body which provides industry-relevant feedback and insights to Government on the operation of the R&D Tax Incentive Program. In this capacity, she has been involved in a number of Government related Innovation Think Tanks. Sandra liaises with all policy stakeholders on Tax Reform relating to innovation and provides insights and modifications to R&D Tax Incentive legislation and various innovation reviews currently underway in Australia.
