Matt Darby appointed to National Head of Retail and Consumer Products

Matt Darby, who recently joined Grant Thornton as Partner in the Retail Management Consulting team, has been appointed as National Head of Retail and Consumer Products.

Matt takes over from Luke Ritchie who held the National Industry Leader of the Retail & Consumer Products industry group role for several years and has now decided to step down.

Throughout his career Matt has worked with every segment of the retail sector and across the supply chain and brings his huge passion for the retail industry to this new National leadership position. Matt joined Grant Thornton’s Management Consulting team in February 2022 from KPMG, where he was the National Lead for the retail group.

“I am looking forward to working with the wider team and bringing my retail experience and knowledge to continue to position Grant Thornton in retail at the very top. I know I am supported by an incredibly strong and established national team,” said Matt Darby.

“The Retail & Consumer Products group is our number one priority industry at Grant Thornton and I am pleased to announce that Matt Darby will take on the role of National Industry Leader. Luke will continue to support the core team for the Retail industry group. I want to thank Luke for his guidance and leadership, and welcome Matt to the role,” said Iain Kemp, National Managing Partner of Industry at Grant Thornton.

“Luke has worked extremely hard to build Grant Thornton’s profile in the retail market. Our reputation and client mix in the retail industry is highly regarded and has helped us to produce interesting and rewarding work alongside our clients. Additionally, Luke has supported Grant Thornton’s efforts in recruiting a high calibre of talent with genuine interest and experience in retail, augmenting the existing depth of capability and experience within the firm,” continued Iain Kemp.

Matt steps into his new leadership role effective from 18 August 2022.
