Grant Thornton builds CFO Advisory team with new leader John Askham

Grant Thornton Australia is delighted to welcome experienced advisor John Askham to its CFO Advisory team in Sydney. John has an extensive background in advising CFOs and senior finance leaders on financial accounting, reporting and process issues across a range of industries.  

John’s commencement follows the appointment of Peter Barnikel (National Head of CFO Advisory) and reflects strong demand for these services.

Finance teams continue to grapple with increasing complexity across the corporate reporting landscape, including new environmental, social and governance (ESG) reporting pressures, whilst at the same time endeavoring to improve audit documentation, digitise and automate finance processes, and provide strategic insights to their core businesses. In his new role, John will guide CFOs and finance functions as they navigate these changes amid the unprecedented disruption and change of the last few years.

John is a Chartered Accountant and over the past 12 years has worked with a range of multi-national and domestic clients. John started out with EY in London before moving to the EY Financial Accounting Advisory Services team in Sydney in 2010. He commenced his new role at Grant Thornton on Monday February 21, 2022.
