Consultant - Financial Advisory
Gerry has over 45 years’ experience providing professional services to businesses, organisations and individuals. After more than 35 years as a partner with Grant Thornton and its predecessor firms in Cairns, Gerry retired from the partnership in 2018 and now works as a consultant with Grant Thornton.
Gerry adds value to his clients by providing a holistic service using his expertise in audit and advisory, business and strategic planning, operational and corporate governance reviews, taxation advisory services, structuring advice and reviews, financial viability assessments, and business recovery and insolvency services.
He has worked with clients across a wide range of sectors including tourism and hospitality, real estate and construction, wildlife, natural resources management and conservation, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander business and community organisations, retail, not for profit, accounting and financial services, agribusiness, health and aged care, and public sectors.
Gerry has a sound knowledge of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander culture and of the special requirements associated with the successful financial management of not for profit organisations.
He is an accredited panel consultant with the Office of the Registrar of Indigenous Corporations (ORIC). Gerry has undertaken specific cultural awareness training to ensure his approach to providing professional services to indigenous clients is delivered in an appropriate manner.
Gerry has worked with a large number of Indigenous organisations. This work has been directly for self-governing organisations, as well as for state and federal government authorities.
