Matt joined Grant Thornton over 25 years ago and has held a number of leadership roles including National Head of Restructuring Advisory, National Head of the firm’s manufacturing industry group, and forming and leading Grant Thornton’s Asia practice. He is a passionate champion of the firm, its clients and people.

As National Head of Restructuring Advisory, Matt has extensive experience in managing companies in receivership, liquidation and voluntary administration and has worked across a range of high-profile engagements including as the lead appointee in relation to Porter Davis Homes Group, Greensill Capital, and Oceania Glass. He prides himself on balancing empathy for all stakeholders, with ensuring the best outcome in any particular circumstance. Matt’s vast restructuring experience encompasses businesses in the property & construction, manufacturing, transport and logistics, financial services, and hotel/accommodation industries.

Experience

Matt has developed strong skills in managing businesses in distress, and in negotiating the best possible outcome via a sale, recapitalisation, or workout strategy.
He has extensive experience in Australia, the UK and the Asia Pacific region managing companies in formal administration and has been involved in numerous advisory engagements including Investigating Accountant (IA or IBR), due diligence, expert witness, and limited scope reviews on behalf of secured lenders, government departments, and other stakeholders.
