Grant Thornton congratulates new Partners and Principal from 1 July

Grant Thornton announces 10 new Partners and one new Principal from 1 July 2026 across the firm’s service lines nationally.

These internal promotions reflect the depth and diversity of talent across the business and supports the firm’s purpose as it continues to invest in shaping better futures for its people, clients and communities. This is a significant career milestone for each of these new leaders and creates exciting opportunities for its people to work alongside a broader range of leaders who support growth and learning.

Said Jahani, Grant Thornton CEO said, “I’m extremely pleased to extend a warm welcome to our newest Partner and Principal cohort. This group brings their individual strengths from a range of diverse backgrounds, and every one of these new leaders has shown a high-performance mindset combined with a passion for delivering quality client service. Including Grant Thornton’s group of Partners promoted internally on 1 July 2025 and from 1 January 2026, this brings the total to almost 30 new Partners promoted in a 12-month period from the firm’s existing talented ranks of Directors and Principals. Combined with more than 10 exceptional lateral hires who have joined over the same period, Grant Thornton has welcomed more than 40 new Partners in a short space of time reflecting its ambitious growth targets.

Jethro Byrne, Corporate Tax Partner based in Melbourne said, “I aim to bring a perspective shaped by working within the ATO and advising a diverse range of clients in the private sector. This combination gives me a strong understanding of how tax rules are interpreted and practically applied. It allows me to anticipate issues early and provide pragmatic, commercially grounded guidance. As international tax becomes more complex, I bring the capability and energy to help clients navigate these challenges with clarity, confidence and solutions that support long term outcomes. I’m looking forward to joining the Partnership and continuing to learn and evolve with my fellow peers.”

Tianne Nagy-Jones, Financial Advisory Partner based in Melbourne said: “I am excited and honoured to be joining the Grant Thornton Partnership. Since 1 January 2026 Grant Thornton has welcomed the following new laterally hired Partners:

  • David Pitts, Partner, Sustainability Reporting Advisory (Brisbane) 
  • Alex Stepanyants, Partner, Risk Consulting (Sydney) 
  • Elna How, Partner, Sustainability Reporting Advisory (Brisbane) 

These appointments, combined with the internal promotions, brings the total number of Partners in the firm to 199 as of 1 July 2026.
