Could this be a step back for Britain’s thriving Fintech community, while the Australian sector enjoys new opportunities created?
Madeleine Mattera, National Head of Financial Services, Grant Thornton Australia believes that we can expect to see any cross border opportunities that exist to be leveraged very quickly, given most
Fintech’s are either born global or go global earlier than traditional businesses.
“There’s a clear opportunity with historic Commonwealth bi-lateral ties between Australia and the UK that could lead to increased focus by the UK on Australia, compared to its traditional Euro centricity, thereby creating opportunities for bi-lateral trade and innovation.
“However, the dynamic that remains to be seen is whether British Fintech’s will be locked out of the European markets creating a void that Australian Fintech’s could potentially fill,” said Ms Mattera.
