Grant Thornton Australia has boosted its senior growth advisory capabilities, announcing the appointment of Mr Ian McCall as a Partner of its Melbourne-based growth advisory team.
Mr McCall was Chairman of the Advisory board for the GNC Group Consulting Pty Ltd. until it merged with Grant Thornton last Friday, 1st of September.
Mr McCall has deep experience in strategy and operational efficiency, holding roles of both Managing Partner and Asia-Pacific Lead Partner of Deloitte's Strategy and Operations Practice. He also served on the Board of Deloitte Australia and New Zealand.
Further to his position at GNC Group Consulting, Mr McCall has held board positions with Menzies Partners, IC3 and Advanced Paediatric Life Support (Australia) Pty Ltd.
Chief Executive Officer of Grant Thornton Australia Greg Keith said Mr McCall will enhance our strategic advice capability to support the executive teams of the company’s larger clients. He will also help drive the implementation of GNC Group practices into the company.
“We were extremely impressed with Ian’s insights and knowledge throughout the merger discussions and are thrilled to bring him into our team,” Mr Keith said.
Mr McCall’s addition as partner did not form part of the GNC merger, which saw the company add five new partners. A total of nine partners have been added since July 1 this year.
“There are currently 160 partners around the country and we aim to increase that to 200 in less than two years. New partners coming from GNC will provide significant experience in growth advisory and the retail sector, which are important focuses of the company,” Mr Keith said.
Grant Thornton’s Australian operation is rapidly building its growth advisory capabilities to complement its traditional accounting, auditing and taxation work.
The merger with GNC Group and the appointment of new partners and specialist staff is part of Grant Thornton Australia’s aim to become the country’s preeminent advisor to the retail industry and a leading advisor in several key industries
