The Export Market Development Grant (EMDG) program is an Australian Government incentive to support current and aspiring exporters. If you are a first-time applicant, the grant program will reimburse roughly 50% of eligible expenses paid between 1 July 2018 and 30 June 2020.

However, the EMDG scheme closed to self-lodgers and non-approved consultants on Monday 30 November 2020. Don’t worry though, Grant Thornton has Austrade approved EMDG consultants who can prepare and lodge your EMDG application until 2 March 2021.

Grant Thornton’s consultants will assess your eligibility, review your overseas marketing activities and the documentation that you have retained to put together a comprehensive audit-ready submission. With an adjustment rate of less than 5%, you can be sure that your EMDG claim will be maximised, supported and defended by lodging with us.

What can I claim?

If you are an Australian exporter, or a business developing an export market for IP, goods or services with turnover of less than $50 million, the EMDG scheme will allow you to access a cash refund of up to $150,000 per grant period.

The type of costs that can be claimed under the EMDG scheme include your spend on overseas marketing trips, advertising, trade fairs, marketing consultants, overseas representatives, providing free samples, bringing overseas potential buyers to Australia and overseas intellectual property costs.
